I was intially referred to Online Trading Academy through a friend at work. I went to one of their free trading workshops at their NY center. The seminar was both informative & a bit of a sales pitch, but you can't really blame them for that. Relistically every business needs to sell it's products or services. They let us talk with their students who were attending the class during the lunch break. I got good feedback and not to mention, was reffered by a friend, so the decison wasn't too tough.
I enrolled that day for their Stock Pro Trader course. I've been in the markets for 7 years with ups & downs. This was by far the best move I made related to my trading. I've taken the course twice, since they allow unlimited free retakes. Both instructors were good, and displayed some different startegies. It makes it much easier to connet the dots when you can learn directly from professionals in the markets.
Trading is not easy. It takes time & practice. The course drastically reduces your learning curve and teaches you the proper stategies to minimize loses & maximize profits. I've followed the trade plan that they helped me put together, and stick to the rules/disciplines. Sounds easier said than done, but I've been consistently profitable over these past 8-9 months.
Seems like many people like to bash this school, but the trend is people who have NOT attended their classes. Those who have, seem to be pretty satisfied. These markets are volitale and without a solid education, it's quite a battle. I would have saved myself lots of money & greif taking this course years ago.
It amazes me to see the idiots like Geo123 come on here and tell
you the school is a scam just because he can't afford to attend. Most
people who can't afford or will not pay money for a course have to
justify their reason for not attending the course. These idiots think
they are going to trade with the pros by reading a book. Any idiot
saying what Online Trading Academy teaches is basic is a fool.
Fools use indicators and pros use Supply and Demand. When you
come to an OTA free seminar they are definitely going to hard sell you.
Stand your ground if you don't want to attend at that time. Like I did.
But once I quit lying to myself and invested in OTA it was the best
decision I've made financially. OTA doesn't tell you that you will be a
pro trader after 1 week. That's ridiculous. OTA will give you all the
tools you need....but YOU have to be the one who progresses to a
professional trader.
A lot of people come to OTA and they don't follow the rules or listen.
Then they blame everybody but themselves for being a loser trader.
Typically it's the people who have been trading for awhile. The know
it alls who know nothing. Why would you take trading advice from
someone who is attending a trading seminar to learn how to trade? If
he knows it all why hasn't he used the free internet stuff to be a
supertrader.
Losers will always keep you from doing what they really wish they
could do. They call every school a scam. Yet Nasdaq and the NYSE
uses OTA to do training. Who do you think teaches the idiots on
CNBC about technicals. Physical locations in Dubai.....but it's a scam.
The instructors trade the real money live so I have no clue about this
nonsense about traders don't teach. Who the hell does Goldman
Sach's traders get taught by........other traders idiots. Almost every
prop house has a training program. If you know how to properly
trade you don't even need to be at your computer to trade. Plus many
have people entering trades for them while out on the road.
I hope people don't come to OTA. I want as many dummies out there
as possible. But what ever you do.......don't believe you can teach
yourself this stuff. I'm a lawyer and it would be ridiculous for a lawyer
to think he could teach himself the law.
Online Trading Academy sells hard but their classes are worth it. And being able to repeat
classes are awesome. Any where in the world.
I took the pro trader class and did a retake the instructors are good but the course is basic its good for people who have never made a trade before if your a novice who has but needs help to get over the hump its not worth it. I'am also in XLT don't waste your money you can learn just as much from books and the Internet I have only saw one instructor make any real time trades I don't know if the rest can hardly any time is spent in the market live with no live trading they will teach you candles, support and resistance and technicals all after the fact the day before almost never live. The school is not a scam they will teach you technical analysis and order execution stop losses. Its better for multi day swing traders but would not recommend them if you want to learn how to be a intra day trader or scalper.
I just attended the free Power Trading Seminar for Online Trading
Academy. Before attending, I was called by a "counselor" who actually
turned out to be a sales person. He asked me what I wanted to learn in
the seminar and he said, "You'll learn about that." However, the seminar
was 95% sales pitch and had almost no "meat." In fact, as an
experienced trader already, there was absolutely nothing new. They
promised live trading action. In reality, there was only live trading for
about 10 minutes and the trading was in futures, which no one in the
room was interested in seeing because they came to see equity day
trading techniques. Admittedly, the futures trading was very seductive.
Most participants, though, had been pulled from the room to receive
their sales pitch. They never came back to the room. Then it was my
turn. I was presented with a high pressure sales pitch. It reminded me
of the sales pitch I once received to buy time shares with the promise
of a free trip to Hawaii, if you came to the seminar. Except here, they
gave trading CDs. I felt the basic training course they were trying to get
you to sign up for would be too basic for me. I asked about taking the
futures course. But no, you can't take it unless you have the first class.
But wait, there's more. If I pay $14,000 or more, I can take multiple
classes at a discount. I am a professional educator with 40 years of
experience. I evaluate teachers as part of my job. The only thing I can
say is that the "teacher" at the trading seminar had very good skills but
gave no content. She gave a slick, persuasive sales pitch only. There
was no way to evaluate the potential content of the class, because very
little content was given. I had the same experience and reaction as
reviewer J from KC. This company makes me feel edgy about parting
with my money.

I first heard about this school from a relative who had gone through there course. I decided on attending one of there free half day courses where I learned about their school and their philosophy regarding trading. After reading books on trading for years and watching dvd courses I still wasn't profitable at best break even. They have a free course online the 7 pillars of trading that gets into their style / approach for trading. After going to countless other seminars I was surprised to find out that Online Trading Academy was an actual school, not one of these hotel seminars. After I went to there free halfday class I wasn't ready to sign up right then but I was invited to a night time graduate even where they had Bob Dunn one of their futures instructors talk about trading futures and trading the gaps and some other approaches. But more importantly I was able to talk with the grads and see what they thought of the initial course , the professional trader course.
I eventually signed up because I wanted the hands on experience and the ability of being able to ask questions to a professional trader, I didn't know too many people before hand who were consistently profitable. Their website has all their instructors and their biographies readily available. I knew how much the course was before I ever walked in the door, everything is listed on the website.
I am very happy with my investment the biggest thing the school taught me was how to keep my losses small , how to scale in and out of positions, and now I have the confidence in knowing that what I am doing is right vs. wrong. It's difficult to be at home trading by yourself and answering your own questions of why "this" is happening.
On another note, learning to trade is an acquired skill. I don't think anyone is "born" a great trader. They have all learned from someone who is better than themselves. I have retaken the course twice because I wasn't able to absorb all the info the first time I took it. I wish I had taken this course years ago, lots of time and money wasted trying to figure it out on my own!. It took me about 6 months after taking the course and working on my trading plan to start turning profits. For anyone who is looking at trading as a get rich quick scheme, this isn't for you. It takes alot of time and you have to be motivated.
Trading is not easy don't let anyone tell you otherwise!!!
